School Social Worker

A School Social Worker (SSW) is a licensed mental health professional dedicated to supporting students, families, and school staff in fostering student success both academically and socially. SSWs are skilled in addressing a variety of issues, including mental health challenges, behavioral concerns, and bullying. They work closely with school staff and community resources to create a safe and supportive environment where students can thrive and reach their full potential. Additionally, our SSW plays a key role in facilitating the implementation of the TRAILS Curriculum, which focuses on promoting mental health and well-being in schools.

School Counselors

School Counselors play an essential role in supporting students' academic, career, and personal growth. They offer personalized guidance to help students develop academic plans, explore career options, and manage personal challenges.

The role of a School Counselor is to empower students to succeed both in school and in life by providing support across academic, social, and emotional areas.

The School Social Worker and Counselors at WMS are licensed mental health professionals and can provide the following social-emotional support to students at WMS:

  • Individual Support
  • Group Support
  • Crisis Intervention
  • Connect to Local Resources
  • Classroom Presentation

It’s important to note that school counselors and social workers do not offer ongoing therapy. If your child needs support beyond what the school can provide, our mental health support team at WMS can offer recommendations and resources for local agencies and providers. If you have any questions about support options, please don’t hesitate to reach out to our team. We are here to assist you!
